Amazon Q4 PPC Strategy 2026: Prime Big Deal Days, Black Friday and Holiday Bidding Plan

Verified 2026 dates, FBA deadlines and peak fees, plus a week-by-week Amazon bidding and budget plan from October to January.

By Manish Chandwani, GrowwithBA · Updated October 14, 2026

The best Amazon Q4 PPC strategy for 2026 is a phased plan, not a single bid increase. Use the weeks after Prime Big Deal Days (October 6 to 7, 2026) to harvest the search terms that converted, build audiences from event shoppers in late October, then raise budgets and top-of-search bids in stages through Black Friday (November 27, 2026) and Cyber Monday (November 30, 2026). Keep spend high for gifting searches into mid-December, pull back when shipping cutoffs pass, and use January to retarget holiday visitors and reset bids. The plan only works if your FBA inventory arrives on time, because ads cannot sell units that are not Prime eligible.

This guide gives you the verified 2026 dates and deadlines, the Amazon Ads controls that matter most in Q4, and a week-by-week bidding and budget plan from October through January.

Key Q4 2026 dates and deadlines for Amazon sellers

Start with the calendar. Every bid and budget decision below hangs off these dates.

Date (2026 unless noted)What happensWhy it matters for PPC
October 6 to 7Prime Big Deal Days (US, 48 hours). Amazon says Prime members in 22 countries can shop the event, with dates varying by country.Your best fresh source of converting search terms and retargeting audiences for the rest of Q4.
October 8Amazon Great Indian Festival begins in India, per Amazon India's announcement as reported in Indian media.India sellers run festive and Diwali bidding in parallel with the US calendar.
October 14AWD inbound deadline for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday Prime eligibility.Inventory that misses the window may not carry the Prime badge for the event.
October 15 to January 14, 2027Holiday peak fulfillment fees apply to units that ship from fulfillment centers in this window. Amazon puts the average increase at about $0.32 per unit, plus the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge.Your break-even ACOS drops slightly. Recalculate targets before you scale.
October 20Deal submission window for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday closes.Deals and ads work together. Plan which ASINs get both.
October 21 / October 28FBA inbound deadlines for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday (minimal shipment splits / Amazon-optimized splits).Last practical chance to get stock in place for the biggest week.
November 27Black FridayPeak bid and budget day for most categories.
November 30Cyber MondaySecond peak. Do not let budgets run out the night before.
December 25Christmas (a Friday this year)Gift demand falls off as delivery promises slip past the holiday.

Two notes. First, at the time of writing Amazon had not published exact start and end dates for its Black Friday Week event in the official sources reviewed, so plan around the calendar dates above and watch Seller Central for the official window. Second, the inbound, deal and fee details come from Amazon's Holiday 2026 announcement in Seller Forums. The announcement also says deal fees are unchanged from Prime Day: a $100 upfront fee per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, capped at $5,000.

The Amazon Ads controls that matter most in Q4

Placement bid adjustments

Sponsored Products lets you raise bids by placement: top of search (first page), rest of search, and product pages. Amazon's launch documentation states you can adjust each placement by up to 900%. In Q4, top of search is where most gift shoppers click, so this is your main lever. Keep base bids steady and move the placement modifier instead, because that is faster to reverse after the peak.

Your bidding strategy multiplies with the placement adjustment. Amazon offers fixed bids, dynamic bids down only, and dynamic bids up and down. Under up and down, Amazon can raise bids by up to 100% for top of search and up to 50% for other placements, on top of your placement modifier. Combining a large modifier with up and down bidding can produce much higher CPCs than you expect, so check the math before you stack them.

Budget rules

Budget rules raise Sponsored Products campaign budgets automatically. Schedule-based rules lift budgets by a set percentage during a date range or a recommended event, and Amazon suggests events based on the products in the campaign. Performance-based rules raise budgets only when a campaign meets a threshold such as ACOS, click-through rate or conversion rate over the previous 7 days. Set these up for Black Friday Week now so you are not editing dozens of campaigns at midnight.

Sponsored Brands

Sponsored Brands requires Amazon Brand Registry for sellers. Formats include video, image and product collection ads that appear above, alongside and within search results. Amazon also reports new-to-brand metrics with a 12-month look-back, which help you judge whether Q4 spend is buying new customers or just repeat orders. See the official Sponsored Brands overview.

Sponsored Display, DSP and the new DVA+ setup

This changed in 2026. At unBoxed on September 29, 2026, Amazon renamed its unified platform Amazon Ads Agent. It introduced DVA+ (Display, Video and Audio), which brings together what was previously run as Sponsored Display, Sponsored TV and programmatic DSP campaigns. Amazon says DVA+ begins reaching advertisers in late October, so access may arrive during Q4 rather than before it. Amazon says existing Sponsored Display campaigns keep running and can be found under Display, Video and Audio campaigns.

Amazon also launched Full-Funnel Campaigns, available now to US advertisers, and AI guidance that suggests Sponsored Products targeting, bid and budget changes. Treat these as optional tests in Q4. Do not move your core holiday budget into a new campaign type you have never run during the most expensive weeks of the year.

Week-by-week Q4 PPC plan: October to January

Weeks of October 12 and 19: harvest Prime Big Deal Days

  • Pull the search term report for September 29 to October 13 and sort by orders, not clicks.
  • Move converting search terms from auto and broad campaigns into exact match campaigns with their own bids.
  • Add terms that spent with no sales as negative exact in the source campaign. Be careful with terms that had only a handful of clicks.
  • Save event viewers and purchasers as audiences for retargeting if you use display campaigns.
  • Recalculate break-even ACOS with peak fulfillment fees. The ACOS calculator makes this quick.
  • Confirm inbound shipments against the October 21 and 28 deadlines and submit Black Friday Week deals before October 20.

Weeks of October 26 and November 2: build the base

  • Launch gift-intent keyword campaigns, such as "gifts for dad" or "stocking stuffers" style terms relevant to your category, with modest bids to collect data.
  • Refresh Sponsored Brands creative with seasonal images or video. Creative takes longer than bid changes, so do it now.
  • Set schedule-based budget rules for November 20 to December 1.
  • Keep top-of-search modifiers at your normal level. CPCs are still rising and you want clean baseline data.

Weeks of November 9 and 16: the ramp

  • Raise budgets on proven exact match and brand defense campaigns in steps, for example every few days, rather than one large jump.
  • Start increasing top-of-search modifiers on your best ASINs that have stock and competitive prices.
  • Defend your brand terms. Competitors bid on them during holiday weeks.
  • Check daily that no campaign is running out of budget before evening, when shopping traffic often peaks.

Week of November 23: Black Friday through Cyber Monday

  • Run at your highest planned budget from Thanksgiving (November 26) through Cyber Monday (November 30).
  • Check budgets and stock at least twice a day. A campaign that stops at 3 p.m. on Black Friday loses the evening.
  • Pause ads on any ASIN within a few days of stocking out, so you do not pay for clicks you cannot convert.
  • Avoid big structural changes. This week is for budget and bid moves only.

Weeks of December 7 and 14: gifting peak and shipping cutoffs

  • Keep spend on gift-intent and best-seller campaigns while delivery promises still land before Christmas.
  • As delivery estimates slip past December 25, lower top-of-search modifiers on gift terms.
  • Shift some budget to Sponsored Brands and brand defense for shoppers buying gift cards and last-minute items.

Weeks of December 21 and 28: wind down

  • Cut holiday modifiers back to baseline.
  • Keep campaigns for gift card redemption and "self-gifting" searches, which can continue after Christmas.
  • Pause seasonal keyword campaigns that only make sense before the holiday.

January: reset and retarget

  • Retarget holiday product viewers who did not buy.
  • Run a full search term review of October to December and add the winners to your evergreen exact match campaigns.
  • Track TACOS, not just ACOS, to see whether holiday ads lifted organic rank. Use the ACOS and TACOS calculator.
  • Remember that peak fulfillment fees run until January 14, 2027, so January margins are still slightly thinner.

Budget pacing: how to spread Q4 spend

There is no universal split. Your category, stock and margin decide it. A practical way to set it:

  1. Pull last year's daily sales from October to January and mark the peak days for your products.
  2. Set a monthly ad budget, then allocate more of it to the weeks where your sales actually peaked last year.
  3. Within Black Friday Week, give Black Friday and Cyber Monday the largest daily budgets.
  4. Hold back a reserve, for example a fixed share of the month's budget, to add to campaigns that are converting and hitting budget caps.
  5. Review pacing daily from mid November, and weekly the rest of the quarter.

Your target ACOS can rise in Q4 if conversion rates improve and you are buying new customers. Set a hard ceiling based on profit, not on a feeling. If you need a refresher on targets and structure, see our Amazon PPC guide for 2026.

Keyword harvesting for the holidays

Holiday search behavior shifts toward gift and occasion terms. A simple harvesting loop:

  • Collect: Run an auto campaign and a broad match campaign per main product group with moderate bids.
  • Promote: Move search terms with orders into exact match, and add them as negative exact in the source campaign so they do not compete.
  • Prune: Add clearly irrelevant terms as negatives every week, not every month. In Q4, waste adds up fast.
  • Protect: Run separate brand campaigns so branded traffic does not hide weak generic performance.

India: Great Indian Festival and festive season

Indian sellers face a different calendar. Amazon's Great Indian Festival 2026 began on October 8, according to Amazon India's announcement as reported by Indian media. The same principles apply: secure inventory early, use the opening days to harvest converting terms, raise top-of-search bids for festive and Diwali gift searches, and pull back once delivery dates pass the festival. Check Seller Central India for local deadlines and fees, because the US figures in this guide do not apply.

Common mistakes in Amazon Q4 PPC

  • Raising bids before stock arrives. Without Prime eligibility, conversion drops and spend is wasted.
  • Stacking modifiers without checking. A high top-of-search modifier plus dynamic up and down bidding can more than double your effective bid.
  • Running out of budget early. On peak days, a capped campaign in the afternoon misses the evening rush.
  • Ignoring peak fees. Peak fulfillment fees and the fuel surcharge cut margin. Your old break-even ACOS is too high.
  • Testing new campaign types on Black Friday. Try new tools like DVA+ or Full-Funnel Campaigns with a small budget first.
  • Forgetting the cool-down. Holiday modifiers left on in late December burn money on traffic that will not arrive in time.
  • Only tracking ACOS. TACOS and new-to-brand metrics show whether Q4 spend built your business or just bought sales.

Frequently asked questions

When should I increase Amazon PPC bids for Black Friday 2026?

Start raising budgets and top-of-search modifiers gradually from mid November, then run your highest planned budgets from Thanksgiving on November 26 through Cyber Monday on November 30. Raise in steps so you can see what is working.

Is Prime Big Deal Days 2026 over?

Yes. Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6 to 7, 2026. Its search term and audience data is now your best input for Black Friday and holiday campaigns.

What is the FBA inbound deadline for Black Friday 2026?

Amazon lists October 14 for AWD, October 21 for FBA with minimal shipment splits, and October 28 for FBA with Amazon-optimized splits to keep Prime eligibility for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday.

Do Amazon holiday peak fees affect my target ACOS?

Yes. Peak fulfillment fees apply from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027 and average about $0.32 per unit, plus a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge. Higher fees lower your break-even ACOS, so recalculate before scaling.
