A restaurant website has one job: turn a hungry searcher into an order, booking or call — fast, on a phone. Most fail at it. Here’s the checklist we use to audit and build restaurant sites that convert.
The non-negotiables
- Fast on mobile: most restaurant searches are on phones; a slow site sends them to a competitor
- Menu as crawlable text: not a PDF or image — Google and diners both need it readable
- Online ordering link: prominent, above the fold
- Reservation link: on every page, embedded not redirected
- Click-to-call: tap-to-call phone number on mobile
- Hours + location: accurate, with an embedded map
The conversion layer
- Reviews / social proof visible
- Real photos of food and space
- Clear primary action above the fold
- LocalBusiness + Menu schema markup
The SEO layer
Title and meta per page, city/neighborhood relevance, fast Core Web Vitals, and schema. A beautiful site that doesn’t rank or convert is a costly brochure. See our Maps ranking guide.
